Being Alive from Company is featured in Swan Song, the ninth episode of Season Four. It is sung by Kurt.
After Rachel's performance at the NYADA Winter Showcase, Kurt is approached by Carmen Tibideaux, who invites Kurt to perform a song in front of the audience with the prospect of being accepted in NYADA. Kurt initially thinks he could not do this, until he has a pep talk with Rachel. Afterwards, Kurt introduces himself to the audience jokingly, saying he is auditioning for the role of a NYADA student. As the song begins to play, Rachel and Brody watch Kurt intently. Kurt looks emotional and nervous as Rachel and Brody hold each other's hands. Both Rachel and Kurt are seen having tears in their eyes. Kurt finally closes his eyes as he lets out the long note at the end of the song, receiving a standing ovation just like Rachel. We can see a tear slide down Kurt's face. At the end of the episode, it is revealed that Kurt was accepted into NYADA.

- Ironically, in the episode Choke, Carmen Tibideaux states that The Music of the Night, The Impossible Dream and Being Alive are the most common audition songs that she hears. Despite saying this to Kurt in Choke, he performed Being Alive as his NYADA re-audition song.
