Barry Knapp Bostwick, born February 24, 1946[1], is an American stage and screen actor.
He is best known for his roles in The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Spin City. He originated the role of Danny Zuko in "Grease".
On Glee, he guest starred as Tim Stanwick.
Personal life[]
Bostwick was born in San Mateo, California to Elizabeth (Betty), a housewife,[1][2] and Henry (Bud) Bostwick, a city planner and actor.[1][2] His only sibling, Henry (Pete), was killed in a car accident in July 1973.[3]
Bostwick attended San Diego's United States International University in 1967, majoring in acting,[4] and also attended NYU's Graduate Acting Program, graduating in 1968.
He was in a relationship with Lisa Hartman for four years that ended in 1984, do to their hectic careers.[4] Bostwick was married to Stacey Nelkin for four years till 1991, and was married to Sherri Ellen Jensen[4] for sixteen years before filing for divorce in 2009. Bostwick and Jensen have two children, Brian (born 1995) and Chelsea (October 1996).[4]
Career[]
He left academia and made his Broadway debut in the 1969 drama Cock-a-"Doodle-Dandy,"[4] and he originated the role of high school gang leader Danny Zuko in "Grease" in 1972. Bostwick starred in the 1975 cult classic, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," as the role of Brad. He states that the film was one of the high points in his career as an actor.[4] He was in the 1977 musical, "The Robber Bridegroom," which won him a Tony Award,[1] and was in the miniseries War and Remembrance in 1988, which he won an 1989 Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television.[1]
He was on Spin City for six years till it's cancellation in 2002, had a recurring role on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit for three years till 2007, has a recurring voice role on Phineas and Ferb for four years till 2011, and for two years was on Cougar Town till 2012. He hosted the PBS July 4 broadcast of "A Capitol Fourth" for eight years.[1]

Bostwick appeared on Glee, along with follow The Rocky Horror Picture Show co-star Meat Loaf, in the appropriately titled episode, "The Rocky Horror Glee Show," in 2010.
