Gina Hecht is a daughter of actress Pauline Pike, which occurred mainly in plays. She made her debut in the sci-fi television series Mork & Mindy of where they occurred in the years 1979 to 1981. In the comedy Night Shift - The morgue totally flips out (1982) she played the fiancée of "Chuck Lumley" (Henry Winkler). In the film drama "St. Elmo's Fire" (1985) she appeared alongside Emilio Estevez, Rob Lowe, Demi Moore and Andie MacDowell. In the television drama "Pursue my tormentors!" (1992) Pike took over alongside Joanna Cassidy and Ellen Burstyneine the major roles. In the film drama "One Night Stand" (1995) she played a larger role on the side of Ally Sheedy.
Hecht is married to the screenwriter and actor Brian Herkowitz. She produced the directorial debut of her husband, the short film "Odessa or Bust" (2001), to the Herskowitz also wrote the screenplay. In the film, Red Buttons embodied one of his last roles, as an old actor, who remembers the difficulties of his career. Gina Hecht played the role of God. "Odessa or Bust" was awarded during the "Tambay Film and Video Festival" in Tampa with the Jury Prize for Best Short Film.
