Reception[]
Janelle Tucknott from Renowned For Sound says of the album: Source
"The 100th episode celebration is a must have for all Gleeks and fans of well-produced cover songs. The team did a wonderful job and the song choices were mostly spot on, as were the allocations of who would perform what. The album will likely be a welcome addition to the collection of fan memorabilia as a memento of such an important milestone."

Trivia[]
- This is the fourth time an exclusive album is released at Target (the other three being Glee: The Music, Love Songs, Glee: The Music, Dance Party and Glee: The Music, Volume 7 Deluxe)
- This is the first time an album has been released in two parts. Rather than releasing the entire album with all songs from both episodes of a two-parter, as was the case with Glee Sings the Beatles (which contained songs from "Love, Love, Love" and "Tina in the Sky with Diamonds"), only the first half of the album with the six songs from "100" was made available to download on iTunes on March 18, the episode's airdate. The second half of the album with the seven songs from "New Directions" was then made available for preorder and released on March 25, the episode's airdate.
- Total Eclipse of the Heart is the only song which is not present in any episode, because it was cut. However, it was supposed to appear in New Directions.
- This is the last album to get a physical release from the series. The rest of the albums were EPs.
