Le Freak by Chic is featured in Showmance, the second episode of Season One . It is sung by the New Directions as a practice for the assembly.
The Glee kids disapprove of the song with Kurt deeming it "really gay." Mr. Schuester , however, won't let them change the song as he misguidedly believes that everyone still likes disco. At the assembly, the glee club replaces Le Freak with a provocative performance of Push It Rachel . This makes Mr. Schuester angry and annoyed at Rachel, and it prompts Principal Figgins to give Mr. Schue a list of pre-approved songs that the glee club is allowed to sing.
