  • I understand that you're sick of defending Finchel, and you're sick of feeling obstracised by the fandom for liking Finchel. You're not the only one that is tired of the comments on this wiki, as the comments this year have been much more vicious than any other year (probably because we're all anxious to see whether or not Glee would last beyond this season, so we all have our own ideas on how we think the show can succeed). Finchel bashing is not nice to read, I know. I'm also a fan of Blaine, and a fan of Klaine, and I make it clear that I am to be respected, regardless of my views on characters or actors.

In saying that though, my tolerance towards negative comments Dean Geyer and Brody Weston really is starting to diminish. I don't dwell too much on hate towards established characters, or characters that have at least made his debut, because at least we know him well enough to judge them. Brody, however, is somebody that is yet to make his debut on the show. What do we know of him so far? He's a Junior, he's from Montana, he can sing, he will attempt to help Rachel "find herself" (which he does not need to do), he will attempt to woo her. May or may not have missed out a couple of more points there, but that's the gist of it. Look, I understand that that tumblr post was obviously not from you, but that tumblr post is one of the reasons why I avoid tumblr like the plague. That poster practically coming up with conspiracy theories based on a couple of spoilers. To be fair to that poster, though, he/she is right about two things:

    1. Rachel doesn't need a man for her to find herself, although that hasn't really stopped her from being in a relationship with boys that had set their eyes on her (apart from Jacob Ben Israel, that is:P).

    2. RIB&co. have displayed acts of misogyny through their writing before.

Now, I understand that that tiny description of Brody that I've put above, is unpleasant to you. You don't want Rachel's attention and affection to go to anyone but Finn, I get that. However, it's kind of ridiculous to compare Finn to Brody when, well, we don't know Brody yet. Angelique, from our past communication, I know that you're someone who thinks logically, and types in a respectable manner, and the fact that, well, you're blatantly judging a book by it's cover (which is something that everybody is guilty of at some stage, and I am not an exception to that whatsoever) is something that is extremely disappointing. Remember, just because Brody is going to put on the moves, it doesn't mean that she will respond to them, and really, who could blame him? Rachel is beautiful, talented, ambitious, independent, diligent, etc, a type of girl that men are attracted to. If I were a fellow NYADA male student, and I didn't know that she was still in love with Finn, I would probably attempt to pursue her as well.

Okay, that is where my defence for Brody ends, because, as I have said, that I don't know Brody well enough to judge him either. However, you do have to respect the fact that there are those who are looking forward to his debut, and that there are those who are a fan of Dean, which includes myself. I was a fan of his ever since I was thirteen years old, when he appeared in my country's version of Idol, and I am tremendously proud of the fact that he managed to get a role on Glee, regardless of the role.

Look, your opinion of him is probably never going to change, but I'd really appreciate it if you respect the fact that there are genuine fans if DG out there.

    • I try to not let my dislike for Dean dictate his character, I seriously dislike Dean, but I won't go into that. I gave him the benefit of the doubt when he first joined and he has completely turned me off ( interviews, twitter comments, self promotion, not even watching the third season and thinking he knows what's best and that he is needed to shake things up) Not the point... I don't like Brody because of how Fox has pushed him on us and stomped on the Finchel fans so they get buzz. You'd understand if you have twitter. I want Rachel to be alone and figure herself out and then go back to Finn. The show has clearly indicated that they are meant to be and I don't want her character or Finn's digressed just so they can have a love triangle. If they wanted that, they shouldn't have had the engagement and all of the soulmate and tethered references. I don't like that he thinks he can come in and save Rachel. He is gonna be arrogant and showy too. I have to see how it plays out obviously. I won't completely know until he is on my screen. The scene I did see in the b- roll of the bathroom scene was very awkward and there was no chemsitry, but we will see. Thank you for being articulate and kind. :) have a good day. Obviously you can love Dean all you want and express it so. I'm allowed to not like him. I don't send him or the writers hate about him, so I'm entitled to my opinion just like everyone. The point of that post was to show how hypocritical the Faberry fans are with shipping Brody. Thanks for your time

    • No, thank you for your time, and please allow me to take more of your time (3 minutes, maximum, I'd assume) :) And of course, your opinions are to be respected, even if I do disagree with almost 50% of your comments.

      Although:

      1. "I don't like Brody because of how Fox has pushed him on us and stomped on the Finchel fans so they get buzz." That is the fault of the company, not the character, or the person who portrays the character.

I'd also like to add that your claim that Fox was stomping on Finchelettes is something that I would have agreed with, if it weren't for the fact that ,many (unreasonable) users say the same about Marley/Melissa Benoist and Kitty/Becca Tobin. You feel like bringing in Brody is an insult to Finchel. Quinn fans feel that the role of Kitty is an insult to Quinn, and Dianna Agron. Rachel fans feel that the role of Marley is somewhat of an insult to Rachel. Mercedes fans feel that Wade coming into the ND is an insult to Mercedes. And I'm sitting here, wondering if/when the habit of judging a book by its cover would disappear, and wondering whether or not people think before they speak, or proof read before they post, so please understand where the frustration comes from.

Although I'd like to give you some food for thought, I don't need a reply, but it's something to think about. You and I both know that you strongly stand by your opinions, no matter what. We both know that you detest Dean Geyer's demeanour. We both also know that (apart from Finn and Cory) a fans' preferences of characters is somewhat influenced by whoever portrays them. So even if Brody himself turns out to be a somewhatwell-rounded and likable, do you think you would be able to, at the very least, respect or like the character? Or will you always have some form of grudge on him? :)

    • I could like him of he turns out to be a mentor to her and really tries to help her, not try to be some "rock" for her as Dean has stated and some "shirtless guy". And Not try to push New York style and attitude. Her personality is what makes her unique and admirable and comical. Obviously I have to see how it turns out, I was looking forward to their scenes as friendship before all of the spoilers came and forcing him on us in all directions before we have even seen him. And I think you misunderstood what I meant by Finchel fans being stomped on. We are the writers punching bag. We are used to create buzz and get more viewers. Whether haters want to admit it or not, we are the most popular and we draw the most people in. People want to see their story. Fox and writes take advantage of that and push us around by forcing Brody on us, having Brad questioning their endgame status for the first time ever. And not to mention having to got through Fuinn 2.o, 4 break up scenes and now we have to go through a fifth. We can only take so much. And then Ryan rewards all of the other shippers and gives them all of these reassurances constantly when many of them send him and actors and other wtiters death threats and hate. Then they have Dean exploit Finn/ Finchel fans as terrible haters sending him sorts of hate. Id like him to go through Cory's mentions or Leas. Now that is hate. Every fandom sends hate and has bad apples. They didn't have Grant announce to E and Fox that he received death threats. I hate being exploited for Buzz. sorry ranting cause angry at haters, not you I am appreciative that my favorites happen to be the stars and are regulars unlike Quinn or puck Stans. I do appreciate your rationality and I hope you enjoy all of your Dean scenes. I will try to be open minded about his character. Thanks

  • Angelique,

First of all, I would like to apologise for my mistake about "Lea Michele refuses to leave Glee". You're right. I did not realise that it was from Perez Hilton, and for that, I was wrong, and I openly acknowledge the fact that I was wrong.

However, you have no right to reprimand me and, allow me to quote, "watch what I say about Lea". I have proven that I have "watched what I said" by saying that "you all have permission to sharpen your pitchforks. We are both college (well, university is what we call it here) students and I do not appreciate you communicating to me as if I am a frivolous teenage girl.

I stated an opinion about her diva status based on the fact that she has claimed that she has a diva, and I have every right to do so. Maybe my own speculation about Lea's diva status having an influence on her employment on 'Glee' will prove itself to be wrong in the future, but until then, you have no evidence to prove me wrong, and at the moment, you have no proof that the show would completely fail if Lea, Chris, Cory, etc, weren't the stars of the show in Season Four.

I acknowledge the fact that we are two very strong-minded individuals (like Lea Michele), who have very different opinions on how 'Glee' would continue to run in the future. You will continue to believe that your views are superior to mine. I will continue to believe that my views are superior to your's. There is nothing we can both do to change that.

I would like to point out that I am offended by what you said when you said "If a guy is like that it's perfectly fine, but for a girl it's frowned upon. Such bullcrap I'm obviously saying that you think that. Obviously you don't."

You reprimanded me like a child for "choosing to believe petty gossip", which I admittedly deserved (even though I did not know it was "petty gossip" until ten minutes ago. You reprimanded me like a child for having an opinion on a celebrity, who I, like you, also admire, which I did not deserve, and something that you had no right to do. I don't, however, understand how the topic of sexism came into the conversation, and why it was a comment that was in response to MY comment in which you chose to address it, which, I won't lie, is something that I am offended by, and a petty "I'm sorry if I sound rude" isn't a sufficient apology.

You obviously thought that I displayed some form of sexism when I said that LM was a diva, otherwise, you wouldn't have even touched it. I just don't understand why.

    • I do apologise if it appeared that I was bashing you (looking back, it did appear that way) but it wasn't really you that I was frustrated with, I was frustrated with the tag itself.

It doesn't matter if the tag was by Ryan Murphy himself, or if it was by any other individual who cannot resist judging Brody before the character makes his debut on the show, it shouldn't even be there until Brody opens his mouth on the show.

The fact that the man himself said "#stayawayBrody" is one thing that frustrates me even more, no matter how the message was conveyed. I understand that RM does have characters that he likes and dislikes (on a personal level), but RM was the one that approved of the new character's existence in the first place, so it's fair to assume that he would at least like the characterization of Brody. RM tweeting "#stayawayBrody" is almost the equivalent of a teacher announcing to the entire school community who they consider as their worst student.

I do apologise if you felt attacked but that was certainly not my attention. And while a person should get their facts straight before reprimanding someone, forgive me for feeling silly at the mere thought of going on Twitter, out of all places, for facts. As I have said previously, I do not own a Twitter account, nor do I follow anybody else's, and I really don't think I need to explain why.

    • Ok. I'm sorry I wasn't aware you didn't have a twitter. But everyone I follow wasn't trying to get it trending. Ryan is very confusing. I know he is pandering to us because of the Brody heavy episodes in the beginning. Just like pandering to Faberry shippers to watch and then be excited for thanksgiving.it wasn't just you who got on me. You were till respectful. The other person wasn't. Again I have no intention of trending it nor hating on dean or Brody. Thanks for understanding :)

  • You're welcome. And it annoys me with the complaining about Finchel, when Finn hasn't had barely any songs or much story and when he gets songs, there's a bust up about it. But if it's Brittana or Klaine, it's fine. No one cares.

    • Yeah I know. He has been limited so much and it's time he shined again. He is the leader. Plus it's the last two episodes and they are main characters. This season has been split a lot. Blaine has almost equal screentime as Finn, and Santana almost as much as Rachel. Lea can't even be considered lead actress anymore because of her limited screentime. Finchel is the lead couple. Always has and always will be. They are amazing. The beginning of the season had barely any of them at all except The First Time. They get a story arc in yes/no and its the Finchel show. Thats bs. The general audience loves them, the writers and actors love them. Why can't people accept Glee for what it is? I enjoy every episode. :)
