Neil Patrick Harris (born June 15, 1973) is a 39-year-old American actor who appeared as a guest star on the Fox TV show Glee. He was featured in Dream On, the nineteenth episode of Season One, as Bryan Ryan.
Neil Patrick Harris is an actor, a singer, as well as a magician. He is also openly gay, and in a relationship with David Burtka with whom he had twins in Fall 2010.
He is best known for being one of the five main characters from How I Met Your Mother, in the role of Barney Stinson.
When he was younger he used to play Doogie Howser, a young prodigy doctor, in the eponymous TV show Doogie Howser, MD.
He appeared as himself in the Harold and Kumar films, and was also seen in Starship Troopers.
In Glee he performed the song Dream On, by Aerosmith with Matthew Morrison. NPH is quite used to singing as he starred on Broadway in for example Sweeney Todd (where he played Tobias Ragg), Cabaret (in the role of Emcee) and also in Stephen Sondheim's Assassins (in the role of the Balladeer and Lee Harvey Oswald). In 2008 he also starred in a musical webseries called Dr. Horrible's Singalong Blog, created by Joss Whedon. (Whedon was also the director for Dream On, the Glee episode in which Harris guest starred.)
In 2010, NPH won the Emmy Award for "Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series" for this very role of Bryan Ryan in Glee.
He starred in the 2011 3-D family film The Smurfs together with Jayma Mays. Jayma was also in a "How I Met Your Mother" with him.
Neil Patrick Harris received a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame on September 2011.
