The Rainbow Connection written by Paul Williams and Kenneth Ascher is a song from The Muppet Movie originally sung by Kermit the Frog (as performed by Muppets creator Jim Henson). The song was featured in All or Nothing, the twenty-second and final episode of Season Four. It is sung by The Waffletoots.

The Waffletoots are the first to sing at the 2013 Midwest Regional Championship. They sing the song after the judges are introduced to the audience. The group wears clothes similar to a valet as they vocalize with a lead soloist singing. During the performance, we see Ryder returning to the New Directions, but also announcing that he is leaving them after Regionals.

Lyrics[]

Male #1 with The Waffletoots harmonizing:
Why are there so many
Songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side
Rainbows are visions
But only illusions
And rainbows have nothing to hide
So we've been told and some choose to believe it.
I know they're wrong, wait and see.

Male #1 with The Waffletoots:
Someday we'll find it
The rainbow connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me

Who said that every wish would be heard
And answered when wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that and someone believed it.
Look what it's done so far.

Male #1 with The Waffletoots harmonizing:
What's so amazing that keeps us star gazing
And what do we think we might see?

Male #1 with The Waffletoots:
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

All of us under its spell.
I know that they're probably magic.

Male #1 with The Waffletoots harmonizing:
Have you been half asleep and have you heard voices?
I hear them calling my name. (The Waffletoots: I hear them call my name)
Is this the sweet sound that called the young sailors.
The voice might be one and the same. (The Waffletoots: One and the same)
I've heard it too many times to ignore it.
There's something that I'm supposed to be.

Male #1 with The Waffletoots:
Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.

Male #1:
The lovers, the dreamers, and me.
