Season Two

Original Song

Tammy Jean Albertson is one of three judges at the 2011 Western Ohio Regional Championships. She initially wants to vote for Aural Intensity because of their song Jesus Is My Friend. She tries to convince Rod Remington and Sister Mary Constance that a duet sung by two boys is inappropriate, referring to Dalton Academy's performance, but is written off by Sister Mary Constance and Rod. Despite her insistence in favor of Aural Intensity, New Directions win at Regionals.

  • Her character is a composite of far-right American politicians and activists such as Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck. She makes several references to Tea Party ideas such as questioning whether Barack Obama was born in the U.S, attacking homosexuality, Supreme Court decisions and claiming that Barack Obama is a terrorist.
  • She also states: "I am not a witch," which is a reference to Christine O'Donnell, a Tea Party member who was linked to witches as a teenager.

I'm a politician, and when I lost my election - and there will be a recount - I didn't sing songs about being a loser. I twittered that Obama was a terrorist. I had to, it's a fact.

I am not a witch.

But, um, I think it's fair to ask: do we have written proof that these kids were born in the United States of America?

—Tammy Jean Albertson, Original Song

Well, boys shouldn't do a duet. The last thing we need to do is send a message to children that "gay is okay." It is not a legitimate lifestyle and last time I checked it's not in the constitution.

—Tammy Jean Albertson, Original Song
