Uptight (Everything’s Alright) by Stevie Wonder is featured in Wonder-ful, the twenty-first episode of Season Four. It is sung by Cassandra, with back-up from NYADA students.

Cassandra says that Rachel's Dance 101 mid-term will be held on this date, trying to make Rachel fumble with her callback and NYADA. Rachel is sick of Cassandra's ways but when Cassandra opens the door, everyone's gathered around the room, confusing Rachel. Cassandra says that NYADA is the best of the best but it is also family, and they are going to get Rachel through the mid-term performance so that she can kick butt at the callbacks.

The song starts with Rachel's NYADA class holding up posters, supporting her to be Fanny. The students assist with the dance as Cassandra leads and grabs Rachel to join in. The two dance with the NYADA students, performing an elaborate dance routine. At the end of the song, everyone surrounds Rachel and applaud her and Cassandra seems very proud of her gesture towards Rachel as she leaves the room. She gives off a very different feeling to their last dance piece, All That Jazz.

Lyrics[]

Cassandra (with NYADA Dance Students):
(Baby), ev'rything is all right
(Uptight), out of sight.
(Baby), ev'rything is all right
(Uptight), out of sight.

I'm a poor man's son from across the railroad track,
Only shirt I own is hangin' on my back,
But I'm the envy of ev'ry single guy
Since I'm the apple of my girl's eye.
When we go out stepping on the town
For a while my money's low and my suit's so out of style,
But it's (all right) if my clothes aren't new
(Out of sight) because my heart is true.
She says

(Baby), ev'rything is all right
(Uptight), out of sight.
(Baby), ev'rything is all right
(Uptight), ah, clean out of sight.

NYADA Dance Students:
Oooh-oooh

Cassandra:
She's a pearl of a girl
I guess that's what you might say
I guess her folks brought her up that way
The right side of the tracks
She was born and raised
In a great big old house, full of butlers and maids

Cassandra (with NYADA Dance Students):
She says (no one) is better than I
(I know) I'm just an average guy

Cassandra:
No football hero or smooth Don Juan
Got empty pockets
You see I'm a poor man's son
Can't give her the things that money can buy
But I'll never, never, never make my baby cry

Cassandra (with NYADA students):
(And it's all right) what I can do
(Out of sight)
Because my heart is true,
She says (baby), ev'rything is all right
(Uptight), clean out of sight.
(Baby), ev'rything is all right
(Uptight), clean out of sight.
(Baby), ev'rything is all right
(Uptight), ah ha ha ha yeah
(Baby), ev'rything is all right
(Uptight), way out of sight.

Cassandra with NYADA Students:
