Taking Chances[]
Taking Chances is Glee´s Seventh Season´s fourth episode.
Plot[]
The episode starts with Tina opening her NYADA letter, it says that she isn´t accepted as a full time student but that she can attend some singing and dancing classes as extracurriculars for other degree. She doesn´t know how to feel about this, because she thinks that is the best option she has because you can´t find NYADA´s singing and dancing lessons in any other place, but she still wants to attend to College full time. This letter will have consequences in more than a character…
Blaine on the other hand seeing this situation feels really bad because of what happened a year ago when he dropped NYADA because of his personal problems, he isn´t sure now if NYU is as a good choice as NYADA was for him (he sings High Hopes in the hallways). He feels bad because of his decission but most of all for Tina, because he wasted an opportunity she never had, so he decides that he has to do something so he talks to Kitty and they decide to talk to the NYU Chancellor about the degree combalidation system.
Rachel on the other hand is finally adapting to her new situation at NYADA, Harmony is still around but she is happy with being there seeing how some of her friends didn´t have a chance. We can see her enjoying her lessons even with Harmony talking trash behind her back and we can see her with some friends in the hallway, she finally feels she is home again. We can see her singing That´s The Way It Is in NYADA, but the performance ends at the loft singing to Tina and in the end both of them hug. Rachel encourages her to stay there and at least work while she attends NYADA in the evenings as Santana did years ago.
Meanwhile at McKinley the boys want to do a ACDC tribute week while Jane and Madison don´t really seem interested. After the rehersals Jane approaches Madison and tells her that they need more female members because if they don´t get more girls to be part of New Directions Sectionals will be a sausage fest. Madison agrees and tells her she thinks who can be interested. Madison´s literature class pal, Amy, a nerdy but really cool girl, can be interested, so they approach her. The biggest problem is that she is already a part of The Troubletones so she hesitates in the beggining, the ND girls tell her not to worry and that she knows where she can audition if she wants. The next day we can see Amy singing Want U Back in front of ND who seem to really enjoy the performance and dance along.
Tina decides to ask Santana about how she handled the situation, she tells her it was really hard but that she has finally find her place there, and that it is going to be easier for Tina because she at least knows what she wants. They spend a lot of time talking about how they have never really connected in high school and Tina tells her how jealous she felt in her senior year, and Santana tells her how she didn´t have any reason to be jealous because actually Santana´s live was a mess then. They agree that they have really enjoyed each other´s company so they decide that they have to see each other more.
When Rose knows about Amy being a part of ND now she absolutely freaks out, she goes straight to talk to Jane telling her that she knows it is all her fault and declaring her and New Directions the war, Amy is really concerned and tells Jane how sorry she is, Jane tells her not to worry because they were the ones to tell her to join New Directions and that besides that Rose can´t always get what she wants and she has to respect Amy´s choice the same way they will respect Amy´s if she decided to go back with The Troubletones. They go together to the new choir room where everyone is already in their chairs but there is a person standing in front of them. She introduces herself, she is Rita, she is a sophomore and wants to join New Directions, she tells them that she didn´t join until then because she thought they were a really closed group knowing that they know each other from the year before, but that she decided to join when she saw Jane and Madison talking to Amy. She talks like A LOT, and we can see the shocked faces of the New Directions while she is still talking. When she finally shuts up says “hit it “ and sings Rihanna´s What Now. Everyone loves the performance and tells her that she can join, she starts to talk again and the scene ends.
Blaine and Kitty tell Tina that she can ask for a transfer from Brown to NY and still be a junior there because the drama degree in Brown and NYU are compatible she just needs to ask Brown´s Chancelor to make the transfer possible. That way she can still course Drama in College and have singing and dancing lessons in the evening. Tina thanks this to her friends because eventhough NYU isn´t as prestigious as Brown is she is closer to the career she wants to have in NY. Later we can see Tina in her first NYADA evening lesson singing Titanium while we can see a really encouraged Santana singing the same song in the Spotlight Diner.
The episode ends with all the New Directions members having fun at Breadstix and the NY gang minus Brittany (who is visiting her parents in Hawaii) having dinner and singing Ain´t No Mountain High Enough at the loft.
